Yesterday my friend, Zitao, who was my classmate in primary school invited me to his brother’s birthday party. His brother was quite famous in our city as he was a great painter, he won the first price in a international competition and i really wanted to see his works~I hope he would allow me to > <.i was thinking probably i can ask him to give me one of his works as a gift then Qianhui laughed at me that it was his birthday not mine haha~Whatever,,i said yes immediately.
Today i went to his house with another friend of mine in the hostel, Jiaxin. She is a pretty and active girl. We arrived at about 7pm. Zitao’s sister give my a big hug when she saw me.~ She was once one of my best friends. A number of people came later. The party started at 7.30. We all felt very hungry so we began to barbecue. They prepared chicken, pork, squid and some vegetables such as mushrooms, potatoes and aubergines. What a wonderful meal! I have not barbecued for a long time since i came to Singapore. It was very nice to try it again. Their mother was very kind and she then served us a lot of wonderful deserts.
After dinner, we started to play games which were decided by Zitao and his sister. There were four games, you could choose whatever you want to play. I joined the “Words guessing” game. But i could not get the words within the set time so i had to be punished.= = I was asked to sing a song in front of everyone. Then they reminded me that i had not said happy birthday to his brother. So i sang “Happy Birthday” in different languages. His brother was very happy and told me that this was the most special gift for this year’s birthday. He heard that i loved his works and he gave one of them to me as return! This was a big surprise!
I came home at 2200, which was our curfew. Today was full of fun. i was very happy to have a brunch of friends like them to make my life more interesting and enjoyable.

There was a celebration held in our school for Singapore’s 47th birthday. On the way to school, i saw many people waring red and white T-shirts which were the colors of Singapore’s flag. It was very nice to see people doing this voluntarily to show their loves to their country. I felt glad that i was involved.
We were asked to come to school as usual. After the reading program, Valery’s mother went on the stage as the representation of the parents. She introduced to us a little bit of Singapore’s history and announced that the celebration started. The parents had prepared a lot of games for us. I first joined the “Zero Point”, which was a traditional game that you were asked to jump across the rubber band. I was not very good at sport and i could only jump to waist. Many of our PE teacher also played with us. Some of them could even three times as i could! They were so great! After that i went downstairs,  I saw a parent was writing calligraphy on Chinese traditional fans. That was interesting. I have learnt writing calligraphy for three years when i was five. But at that time i was too lazy to practise and which caused now my handwriting was not good haha~ I wrote “Happy Birthday, Singapore” on the fan she gave me. This was my best wish to Singapore. I was very grateful for what i have got here. She offered me a great opportunity to study. I have learnt a lot and i have improved a lot. I have got a lot of teachers who take care of me and teach me knowledge just like my parents. i have got many Singaporean friends here to support and encourage me. Because of her, i can came here and own all of this.
I really want to show my love to her, to this beautiful country.HAPPY BIRTHDAY SINGAPORE! i wish you a great future ahead.

Today was a big day! Our show choir competition! On the early morning, Ms Ng posted “All the best” on the Facebook to cheer us up.
We arrived at ACS International at 10 o’clock. Then we started our rehearsal. We had went through the song like a millions times but we still felt very nervous. When we were on the stage for rehearsal, the stage managers needed to do some technical check. In fact that time all of us knew that we did not do well, but our instructors encouraged us not to give up and stay positive.
After lunch, we sit in a circle and practised the song again and again. I felt so wonderful at that time. I enjoyed the moment when everybody doing the same thing together and take care of each other. At p.m., some people came and help us do the makeup and hairstyle. After they finished mine, i went to help the boys. We did have a great time haha~ It was funny when i saw all the boys looked like ghosts~ Some of them shouted and screamed when they saw themselves in the mirror and some of them begged me not to put that thick. The whole room was full of laughter. What a enjoyable time!
Finally, the most nervous time came! It was our turn to be on the stage and perform our song. We hugged with each other and wished the others good luck. When the song began, we walked out the stage, the bright light shone on my body which made me feel that i was like a super star! I felt more inspired by the audience’s applause. We finished the song perfectly! Everyone was very excited. After that, we went back to the rest room to wait for the result to see if we could get in top three and perform our next song. All of us convinced that we could get in and started to change our costumes for the next song. Unfortunately, while we were changing, the stage manager came and told us that we were the forth. We were asked to collect the price instead of performing. Then, silence.
We were shocked and disappointed. i just could not believe this! I did not know what was the one first stood up and said,”hey guys! This is show choir! We joined this for fun but not the price! Come on!” Yeah, what he said was right. We love Show Choir because we love music, not because of the price.
None of us cried because we did our best, no matter what the result was. Besides, No.4 was not a bad one, we made it in such a short time! We should be proud of ourselves. We should not judge ourselves just by one competition. We left ACS International happily. This was a great experience for all of us. Tonight was perfect.

This morning we went out for running exercise AGAIN! I was dying when i finished it. OMG.!Every time after running my face would turn as red as a tomato!= = which made my quite embarrassing when they were talking about my damn face. But i was also happy about this because this meant that they did not treat me as a guest from other country any more. They are now regarded me as their friends and friends always make jokes at each other haha~
We had our Chinese Listening Comprehension exam for O’level this afternoon. I did not think I had done quite well in this exam and this did make me quite stressed. The questions were very tricky and i thought they meant the same thing= =..So i just put the answer which i though was the best one. However, when i walked out of the exam room, i heard some of my dear classmate were checking answers with each other. Then they came to ask me and I found ours were totally different!! I felt petrified at that time..But I just kept comforting myself maybe mine was correct..Anyway, this exam was done and i could not change the result. I should give more effort on what I am going to do. This Chinese written exam is in November, and that will be a good chance for me to get more points because composition is my strength.
I am feeling very sleepy now and my roommate is busy talking with her mom via QQ. Ok..I am going to ignore her and go to bed~haha~Good night,,

Today i had done my book presentation~haha~I was quite nervous because i was afraid that i might not be able to do it well. I loved the two books which i read during the holiday so much and i really wanted to share my feelings to them. I hoped they would also like it and they would be willing to go and read it after listening my presentation. But everything turned out to be just nice although of cause there was something not so perfect. I was so happy when Ms Kaur said i had done a good job. In fact, I did prepare this for a long time. When i was trying to show them the video. The boys began to chit-chat, and which made me quite upset.Anyway, I had done what i wanted to do and this was perfect to me because this made me think that my effort was not a waste.
In the past, i would not read if the it is not compulsory. Actually, this time was also compulsory because we were asked to do our book presentation. But after reading there two books, I found that reading was really interesting. Maybe it is because what Mr Kaur has recommended were famous classic books. I should read more widely especially when i am still learning a new language. Reading is the best way to gain more vocabulary and learn the culture. People always say that learning a language is not just about the language itself but as well as the culture behind it. I am able to get all this through reading. I am trying to keep this as a habit. I believe this will benefit my whole life.

Article:

With the widespread of the Internet, there have appeared many online dating. The lovers meet over the Internet, date on the net and finally fall in love with each other. People’s opinions on it vary greatly.

Some people think online love is very romantic and exciting. It is an amazing thing that the Internet brings together two strange persons far away from each other. Moreover, they think that online romance, compared with realistic love, attaches more emphasis on the appeal to each other in spirit and involves less material conditions. However, many others think differently. In their eyes, the Internet is a virtual world, on which there impossibly exist real, enduring love since it is very difficult to tell the real from the fake by the Internet. Besides, they argue that pursuing online romance is sometimes very dangerous because there are many cheaters on the net.

As far as I am concerned, it is an easy and fast way for people to meet new people by the Internet. However, people should have more protection and safety consciousness when making friends by the Internet. Don’t give out rashly your personal information to strangers on the net. And keep it in your mind that you should have more realistic knowledge of each other before starting a date.

There is a growing tendency nowadays that children in mounting numbers own mobile phones. Does anyone hold the same attitude towards this phenomenon? Definitely not. Actually, opinions are quite different from person to person.

Some emphasize the merits of children’s using mobile phones, they thought that children can contact with their parents or friends conveniently especially when they are confronted with difficulties or dangers. Moreover, mobile phones equipped with various interesting games are also a convenient source of recreation and relaxation  for children who have been under an huge pressures from an overload of studies. On the contrary, a majority of people hold that mobile phones are detrimental to children. For one thing, children’s being addicted to mobile phones is nothing but a waste of their precious and limited time, which will definitely interfere with their studies. Additionally, radiation from mobile phone will exert a detrimental impact on children’s body health.

From my perspective,it is not advisable that children below 10 should bring mobile phones. It is unbelievable that some students carry mobile phones just for the purpose of killing their precious time instead of keeping in touch with their parents regularly. The supposed helpful tool has become harmful. Accordingly, children should concentrate their time and energy on studies, those which might become distractions should not be introduced to them.

Less Stress in Your Life

The acceleration of industrialization and economic prosperity benefit society a great deal. However, with the speeding up of economic development, people are facing increasing pressure in various aspects of their life.

One of the major causes is that the pace of life has accelerated immensely as technology advances. To keep abreast with society, people have to work intensively and expand their knowledge. Fierce social competition deprives people of leisure time and makes their lives more successful.

Another factor comes from family pressure and the need to take care of their family members. On the one hand, people have to care for their parents, creating for them a happy and comfortable life.On the other hand, they have to give their child a good education.

To relieve their stress, I think the following suggestions are doable and practical. First, people should take up sports games in their spare time or on the weekends. Anther thing people can do is to communicate with others frequently and confess their troubles and difficulties to others, which is an almost magic way to relieve stress. Finally, people have to find a balance between money and their health. Otherwise, their health will fail.

To conclude, we should not threaten our health for a good job. We should change our priorities and improve our lives without working ourselves to death.

1/6/12
Today was the third day of my trip back home. I went back to my primary school to visit my teachers. It was Children’s Day so the school was extremely busy.
I first went to the principle’s office, a very nice young women was sitting behind her desk and reading newspaper. After hearing the noise of the door, she looked up and found that it was me. Excitement was on her face, she shouted out my name and came to hug me. I was too moved to even speak. Mrs Fang, she was my English and music teacher at primary school. When I was ten, I did not like to study and i was quite naughty. She was the one who taught me how to sing and make me crazy about music. I was really grateful to her. Then, i went to the auditorium with her and watched some performances which were done by children. They were so adorable!! And this did remind me a lot of things, once i was also one of the little dancers and nervous when i was about to get on the stage. That was the most wonderful time of my life, pure and everything was colourful.
I went to have dinner with my family and Mrs Fang, they talked about many things that happened during theses years. We had a great time at the restaurant.
Mrs Fang was a respectful teacher, and i was so surprised that she was so capable that she became a principal of the school. I admired her so much.I wish she and her family happiness and a great life ahead.
2/6/12
Today i went back to my hometown with my whole family including my parents and my grandparents to visit my relatives there. I did not go bake to there for at least three years. i was not quite familiar with it but my grandparents felt very excited about going back. They laughed during the journey and i was so glad that my decision was able to make them this happy.
I remembered that my hometown was a small beautiful village with mountains and rivers around. It was rich in fish and rice. Every year many people come to visit my hometown.
I heard from my grandparents that,in the past, there used to be nothing on these mountains but huge stones. And the rivers used to be very dirty. It was a poor and backward little town. Many people had no work and they lived a hard life. In 1949, my hometown was liberated. Since then great changes have taken place there .The streets have been widened.Factories, schools, hospitals, cinemas and theatres have sprung up one after another. The life of the people is greatly improved there years. However, surprisingly, it is covered by more and more trees. Mountains are greener than before. The water in the rivers is much cleaner than it used to be. And we can see the fish swim happily in the river.
I think my hometown will be much more beautiful. I am proud of her.
4/6/12
It was very nice to spent these two days in my hometown. I visited my relatives and they were all very happy to see us. We had great meals. The meats were fresh and tasty.
This afternoon, I went to fishing with my grandparents. My grandfather told me that he first met my grandmother was when he was fishing at the lake. They were busy farming at that time. The only thing they were able to relax was going fishing and this was their same hobby. I said this was so romantic and my grandmother smiled and said she thought so. I thought their love was so pure and touched. My grandparents spends more than 60 years with each other, but they still love each other as if they are just married. They love me so much and they always help me when i get my parents angry because i am the only child of the family. And i know that they are extremely worried about my life in Singapore and waited for my call every night. They are old and i should spend more time with them and try my best to make them happy so that they will not feel lonely.
So I spent the whole day with them fishing. I was not patient in the first place because I thought fishing was what only the elderly would do. My grandfather asked me to be more patient and focus what i was doing. I did so and I finally got a fish after 2 hours!! I felt a great sense of success! My parents got a lot of them and we ate fish as our dinner. My parents said that it was good for me to do such thing. It can help me to calm myself down and learn how to think more.
5/6/12
Today was a BIG BIG day!!! Oh my god,, i am still not able to calm down! Here is the BIG news: I met Wang Nan on the way back home! Wang Nan was a world champion in Ping Pong. She was a national hero! She has won scores of gold medals in international table-tennis games and won great honor for our motherland. I knew her because of my grandfather. He likes watching Ping Pong matches and he usually asks me to watch with him and i begin to enjoy the games after watching for quite a long time. The technics of the player made me admire them so much and Wang Nan was my favourite player. She is able to play table tennis as if she is just playing with a ball. It is a joy to watch her games.
Today when my family checked out from the hotel where we were living for the last few days. I suddenly saw a girl with short hair and carrying a red bag. She looked so familiar that i could not help myself shout out her name,”WANG NAN!” She turned around and saw me. Wang Nan replied,”Hello, little girl!”we were too shocked to speak a word. My grandfather was the first one to “get up” and he told her that he was her big fan. Wang Nan smiled politely and said,”Thank you so much.” Then I asked her,”May I get your signature?” She said,”of course” and signed her name on my notebook. After chit-chat with us for several minutes, she had to leave. She told us that she was going to London to watch matches there.
I kept talking about her with my grandfather in the car. She was such a nice person though she was so successful , I think she was admirable and respectful.
6/6/12
Today my uncle’s family came to my home to visit me. They brought me a lot of present such as my favourite Swedish chocolate which made me very surprised and touched. My aunt just gave birth to a little boy 3 months ago~His name was Yichen. He was so adorable and tiny. His skin was as soft as a smooth towel. When I called his name loudly, he would open his month as if he is trying to answer me but he was not able to make a sound. That made all of me laugh because he was really cute! I played with Yichen the whole day. He seemed like me so much and he liked hugging me though I did not think I actually did something that was funny to him.
My whole family were having fun with this little boy. A child is always a treasure to a family. I hope I can spend more time with them as i am here. I need them and I know they also need me at the same time. This is what called a “FAMILY”.

The News Report has always been my father’s favourite TV program. Almost everyday he turns on the TV 6:30p.m after work and wait foe the news program. This has become a part of my life. The News Report contains a large amount of information from the international political situation to the latest foot-ball game, which i used to consider boring. I did not like to watch that while having dinning and i always hoped my dad was not around and i could watch what ever i wanted. But now i seldom have that chance to watch TV with my dad. So today i decided to watch News Repots with him.
He was very surprised and talked to my about the latest news about the world. Though i was not interested at all, i listened very carefully. Dad seemed to be happy during the dinner.I just realized how much i missed the days when he was talking such boring things to me. Now they are all interesting.
Father is not the one who comforts you when you are sad, but he is the one who teaches you how to buck up. Father is not the one who cheers for your success, but he is the one who tells you how to face falieurs.I love Dad.
8/6/12
Today my dad had a deep conversation with me. Just two of us, father and daughter, talked about my wills and most importantly, my future. Actually he does not talk too much but he wanted to know what i had been gone through and what i was going to do next. In fact, he did not care that much about my study because he said that i was such an intelligent girl and he believed that i could achieve what i wanted as i did put my effort.
There was one sentence that he said had made me think. “We reading the first verse of the first chapter of a book whose pages are infinite”(i was not sure if this should be translated this way),,This was a reminder that the future can be anything we wanted to make it, just like a sculptor carves a statue from a shapeless stone.
We are all in the position of the farmer. If we plant a good seed, we reap a good harvest.if our seed is poor and full of weeds, we reap a useless crop. If we plant nothing at all, we harvest nothing at all.
I want my future to be better that the past. I do not want it contaminated by the mistakes and errors with which history is filled. We should be concerned about the future because that is where we will spend the reminder of our lives. The past is gone and static.Nothing we can do will change it. The future is before us and dynamic. Everything we do will affect it.
Each day will brings with it new frontiers, in our homes and in our businesses, if we will only recognize them, We are just at the beginning of progress in every field of human endeavor.

Today my mom’s purse was almost stolen by a migrant worker!!!that was quite scary!!!This afternoon when she and I were walking in a shopping mall. it was very crowded and suddenly my mom felt that someone was pulling her bag. She turned around and saw a tall man’s hand was in her bag seemed like searching something!!My mom was freaking out and screamed out loud for help. The man obviously did not think that my mom would scream and could not run away because there were a lot of people surrounding him. Eventually he was caught by the secures in the mall.
He was sent to a police station and turned out that he was a migrant worker. As is known to all, migrant workers have made a great contribution to the properity of cities. They are an indispensable part of or work force. Most of them work on construction sites. There is no doubt that without migrant workers many of construction projects would have to be held up for lack of manpower. In addition, a large number of migrant workers are a benefit factor, which means the consumption of food and dalily items .This in turn helps to develop food industry and service trades in cities. All these are positive aspects of migrant workers in cities.
However, as a popular saying goes, “Everything has two sides.”The same is the cae with migrant workers. Firstly, most of them are not well educated and professionally trained. Some of them have had very little schooling. As you know, illiterate people, who are usually ignorant of the law, tend to make trouble, just like this man, thus endangering social order. Secondly, most of the migrant workers swarm into big cities just to make money. Being illiterate or unsklled, some of them would stop at nothing to get what they are ambitious for. Therefore, they are a potential threat to the peace and stability of society.
In my opinion, in the appraisal of migrant workers, it is one-sided to affirm everthing or to nagate everything. We should appreciate the great contribution made by them, and at the same time pay enough attention to the problems caused by them.

I felt so good to follow the plan which I made it for myself yesterday and I did not have to waste my time to think what I should do at the study time. And I decided to keep this as a habit to plan my life. I used to finish things until the time when I must hand it in. When this happen, every time I have to rush and consequently the quality of the work would not be good. By the way, this was my mother’s advice. I told her my situation on weekend and she asked my to do this, at least have a try. Yep, I did tried and I thought I did quite well. Thank her so much.I should learn never put off until tomorrow what you can do Today. Which reminds me about a experience when I was ten and that taught me a lesson. one day I felt so tired after watching TV that I did not finish my homework even at night. I thought I could get up earlier to go to school the next morning so that I could finish my homework before class. Even if I could not make it, it was not that big a deal because I was the top student in our class and the teacher would not blame me. The truth told me that I was one hundred percent wrong to think myself that way. The next morning I was not able to get to school in time because of the traffic jam. I was punished by the teacher in front of the whole class and I really felt ashamed.
Although I have been told this since childhood, I seldom obey it as I was capable with my Chinese study. However, now, I am facing more difficult study therefore I should change my previous study style. Educators have known for a long time that people learn in different ways. That is why teachers present information in various forms. For example, as well as explaining a new language, language teachers often provide other learning experiences such as books, songs, debates and group work. In this way, all students in a class have an opportunity to learn in the way that best suits them. It is very important for us to find the most suitable learning styles for ourselves.
14/6/12
Today I received a piece of amazing news from my mom. She told me that me cousin, who has gone to university for a year, decided to aid students in the poverty-stricken areas, volunteer herself in poor villages for three months and try to improve education in poor areas with her schoolmates. I think this is just so cool!!!She was able to close to the poor children and taught them knowledge. I really want to tell her what i feel and how much i am admiring her. But her phone was not connected maybe I shall call her later.
Aid-education has been beneficial in two aspects. On the one hand, college volunteers are really devoted to the cause. They have opened the eyes of students in underdeveloped regions of the country by bringing them new knowledge and thoughts. As a result, they are extremely well-received by the children there. On the other hand, college students have received a rigorous training by adapting to the harsh living conditions. They are enjoying the appreciation and no-distance friendship from the children. What's more, they are greatly inspired by the moving and tireless spirit of the children.
In my opinion, China's educational development can't be isolated from each individual and the college students should take the lead in response to the appeal for offering aid to children in. I hope i could be one of them in the future.

I wonder if there is any girl or boy who does not like to see a rainbow in the sky. It is so beautiful!
There is a fairy tale saying whenever you see a rainbow you should run at once to the place where it touches the ground, and there you would find a pot of gold. Of course, it is not true. Neither could you find the pot of the gold, nor could you ever find the rainbow’s end. No matter how far you run, it always seems at a great distance.
I saw a rainbow today when i was on the way to my friend’s home, It was like a bright bridge which had attracted a lot of people to stand and watch.
A rainbow is not a thing which we can feel with our hands as we can feel a flower. It is not solid, for it is only the effect of light shining on raindrops. The light from the sun shines on the rain as it falls to the earth. The raindrops catch the sunlight and break it up into all the wonderful colors which we see. It is called a rainbow because it is made up of raindrops and looks like a bow.
That is also why we can see a rainbow in a clear sky. We see a rainbow only during showers or storms, only when there is still rain in the air and the sun still shines brightly through the clouds. Every rainbow has many colors which are arranged in the same order. The first or the top color is always red, next comes orange, then yellow and green, and last of all the blue and deep blue or violet. A rainbow is indeed one of the wonders of nature.(science people = =can only think of this lol...)
21/6/12
Today was the last day in China, I went to perform my last show with my band. I could see their sad faces and how much they did not want me to leave. And ,so did i. So we decided to perform this show just for us, not anything else.
As I reached there, the stage was quite and only the some staff walked around and preparing the show. But they were not happy for doing this job, I could tell from their faces. Then i turned around and said to my dear friends,”Let rock the stage!” They seemed to be lightened up by my words. We put our hands together and shouted out “JIA YOU JIA YOU JIA YOU!”
At 8,the show began, ours was the last. Surprisingly, I saw a lot of my classmates entering from the gate. One of them told me that they skipped their class just wanted to watch my performance. I knew it was a bad thing to do but i was just so moved. Finally, it was our turn!!!I jumped on the stage and began to sing. or i should say, shout. Afterwards they said i explored and i did agree. I was singing with my heart and my soul. Tonight, I was the winner of the stage and nobody was able to bit me. This was what i felt when i was singing. It was a great success. We then went to my instructor’s house to celebrate. I could not help myself crying at the end because it was too damn hard to keep my tears in my eyes. We all cried.
This was the night which i would remember in my life. I am proud of myself as i am able to have such a group of friends. We regard each other as our family, and in fact, we are.
25/6/12
Today was the first day of school. It was fantastic to see my friends here again!(though some of my homework was still not finished..oh..Ms Kaur please do forgive me- -..)My new life started again but this was going to be a lot different. I should make some changes in my life. And the first thing i should do was get out of that bad mood when i came back to Singapore. So i can be more brave to face the challenges here without my family and my friends in China.
I came to school quite early. The first person I met was Grace. She was really a nice girl. She sent me a long long massage to comfort me after knowing i was unhappy through Facebook. She waved her arms to say hi to me. I went to her and gave her a big hug.We both smiled. Grace asked me to be strong and i replied that i was fine and i would be strong enough to overcome everything. At this moment, Ziying came across and also hugged me. She was my best friend here, we did not need to say a word but we could understand each other. Then I went to the hall with my friends together. And as usual, a long speech began, but i did pay my full attention to Mr Chua. I thought what he said was what i needed to achieve and i should make an effort to do it well.
I came back to hostel happily and could not wait to share my day with my roommate. She said that it was good for me. In fact, she did not like their school as they did not allow the China scholars to go back to China during the June holiday!Anyway, we ended up encouraging ourselves and then went to sleep. Yeah, I have a lot of energy to face the new day now.

Journal^^(the day u r not around)

10/05/12
Today is the first day that we have lessons as normal after finishing the Common Test. We have been given back our Geography paper by Mr Tan. The result was quite disappointing as it was much worse than I expected, but I heard that the whole grade was not well done and mine was above the average level. This piece of news did make me feel better and at the same time I knew that I was improving. Perhaps it is slow, but I have moved on. My best friend Ziying also did not do well in this exam, she scored the same marks as mine. She could not help herself cry. (sign)I tried my very best to comfort her, in fact , I thought that it was quite common that we were not able to always stay positive. She had been given herself a lot of pressure before the test, she was really a hard-working girl but sometimes we needed to give chance for ourself to fail. From that and only from that, we will know how hard we have been through and grow up. Mr Tan said that he could see I had made an effort for this paper but I did not read and understand the questions carefully enough, I lost one or two marks here and there. I did not catch the points. And i thought this was my problem and I should pay more attention to it.

There was another thing that made me very depressed. I had a strong feeling that my A Math could not get A1. Mr Ingham gave us the answers of the paper but he did not finish marking. Math is always my preponderant subject. The reason was not because I did not know how to solve the questions. It was because that I did not have enough time to to them. I even did not read some of the questions during the exam. This was 100% unforgivable. I always work out math problems very slowly as I do not want t go back and check. But at this time, this kind of method did not work. (scream!!!!)

NEVER MIND!!!

I believe in myself. I will be able to make everything wonderful in the future. Also, I still have a group of perfect teachers and my dear friends to support me. :)We are having our FOE test tomorrow. >< Stay calm and revise on.....

The most important thing is that, I am going home(lol)!!!
I miss my family so much. Although it is not a long holiday, i am very happy that I can spend time with them. I have never left them such a long time since i was born. My grandmother even have begun to weite down the menu of every meal so that i can eat better at home because she knows that the meals here are quite bad. When my mom told me this,  I could not be more touched. Yup...I am gonna have an amazing holiday!!! SO i have the courage to face all problems.

BTW..
Ms Kaur..have you finished marking our Eng paper? :x

Global Warming
The main issue of the article is that our planet is warming which definitely affect our future and even threatened our lives. The author’s purpose is to call out people to do something useful to protect our environment. We should start out small.
The author use a series of numbers to show that the global temperature is rising at a very fast rate. Human-related emissions of carbon into the atmosphere is causing, and will in the future cause, significant global warming according to the theory .On the other hand, the lack of knowledge about the importance of protecting environment hinders the solving of the problem. Consequently, if the ice caps melt, a vast majority of our countries borders will be under water. Monuments and great buildings, as well as homes and lives will be under water, including New York City. The writer assumes that if we continue to destroy the earth instead of protecting her, the human beings will be the ones who suffer the most.Hence, he or she provides lots of solutions such as plating a tree, using air-conditioner less and walking instead of taking a car to advise the readers to follow. These are all some simple methods, but we are able to do something to the earth.
In my opinion, no one, regardless of race, religion or nationality, can deny that the world we live in is becoming increasingly intolerable because of the effects of global warming.
It is urgent that immediate and effective actions should be taken right away. More trees need to be planted to help improve and beautify the environment. Besides, stricter laws concerning global warming and irresponsible use of fuel resources have to be put into effect and achieved good results. In a word, there is a long way to go before we can take a comfortable world for granted again .

The changing role of women in society
The author talks about nowadays women completely change in roles. Perhaps the most defining characteristic of modern age is the liberation of women. The fairer gender is no longer tied to home and hearth. Women today get equal opportunities as men in terms of education and employment. The purpose of the author is that he or she wants people to follow the steps of the progress of the society and men have to transform their mindset and start thinking positively.
The author thinks that men should set aside their  male ego and equally share the responsibility with women in all walks of life in building a strong and healthier society. In many countries, more and more women are no longer housekeepers. They have their own jobs as workers, farmers or even leaders. We can say that almost all jobs that men can do are done equally well by women. Women are no longer looked down upon by society. However, in the author’s opinion, men did not provide enough support to their female counterparts in managing home and children. With that, I think that the tone of the writer is critical and unsupportive. The writer believes that husbands and wives should be more equal in the family. They cope with problems of daily life together and share happiness with each other rather than women have to busy managing home after home.
In my point of view, women are playing an increasingly important part in society today which means that they might be busy working and have no time to manage home.At this time, i think it is very important that men ,as part of the family, should change their mindset that it is embarrassing to do housework, and to help their wives instead.Men should broad appreciate and applaud women for their patience and hard work in discharging their duties both at home and outside home. It ought to be discourage men from escaping family duties on the pretext of wrong notions.

The effects of computer games among teenagers
The author shows both sides of teenagers plying computer games. As a product of modern computer and the Internet, online games have become very popular among students. The purpose of the author is to tell the teenagers that they should control the computer and not to be controlled by the computer itself by showing both of the advantages and disadvantages of playing computer games. Both gaming experts and parenting support groups agree that for teenagers, computer games should be played in moderation.
Computer games involves violence, that may exacerbate tendencies towards violent behavior in some teens, while others are unaffected. Many students have enjoyed great pleasure and satisfaction from these games. But as we see, some students lacking self discipline on too much indulge in these games. So that their health and academic performances are affected. However, playing computer games is not always harmful. They can train their ability of youngsters to respond to things quickly. Moreover, they can stimulate their imagination and their interest in computer science. More importantly, it does bring students much pleasure and release their pressure greatly. The information including in this article is quite reliable as the it is proved by some experts and investigations, such as,”a study by the Indiana University School of Medicine produced brain-scan data showing that exposure to violent computer games and other media affects the area of the brain responsible for decision-making and behavior control.”
which makes the article is more persuasive and makes the readers think.
Form my point of view, online games are wonderful entertainment if you play them in a clever way. When they interfere too much with your study, it is better for you to give them up at once, but if you have enough self control over them, you can certainly obtain real pleasure and benefit a lot from them.
Article:
Parents should listen to their children
The main issue of this article is about the different attitudes between parents and their children towards future. All parents hope their children will have a bright future. However, parents' expectations for their children are not always in accordance with their children's personal ideals, and sometimes they are even conflicting with each other. The purpose of the author is to advise parents to learn to listen to their children’s opinions and never force them into a career which they do not like at all.
The writer provides two pieces of evidence to support her topic.Nancy Erlach-Danon, specialist in the behavioural-cognitive area, stated in an interview that one of the main problems in parent-child relationships is when the parents try to pressure their children into following a career they do not necessarily wish to follow. Also, another psychologist, the Brazilian Fabiano Fonseca da Silva, (USP) considers that parent-child relationships should include future careers "from the word go" and it is important to let kids know what they really want to do in THEIR future. Moreover, the author believes that this is often a main cause for quarrels and gaps between parents and children. When parents place force on their children, they will feel stress and lose their appetite to talk about this anymore.
In my opinion, there are lots of factors contribute to the conflict, the most important one is in this fast-changing society, parents and children have too many differences in mind. Young people have strong independence, who want to plan their own future and control their own destiny. Thus the conflict between parents and children inevitably appear. In order to solve the conflict, both parents and children should pay their efforts. For one thing, parents should give their children rights to make their own decisions. They may help their children make choices instead of replacing them to make choices. For another, children should learn to respect their parents' advices as parents tend to have more life experience. Besides, to communicate with each other actively is necessary to their understanding each other. As long as both parents and children learn to think from the other side's point of view, the conflicts between them can be avoided.

11-15/04/12

11/04/12
Today we were given back our English paper. The only thing I wanted to do as soon as I  saw the mark was scream.Oh my gosh..In fact I was quite confident with it though i thought it was much harder than the last time , as i usually was able to do quite well like 75% percent when we did comprehension exercise but i did not know why i got this terrible result in this test.
I think i’d better do some self-reflection.I can understand the passage but why can’t i get the mark? I know what the question is asking for but why can’t i construct the answers well?   I am able to come up with the meaning but why can’t i express it by using right words? These are some of the questions I should think about. First of all, i usually pay less attention to spelling and i am to lazy to recite words. After finishing the vocabulary homework i seldom review the words which i have collected. This makes me lack of words when i construct my answers. Secondly, though i love to read English novels, which is good for me as it can increase my reading speed, i seldom notice how the author arrange the sentences and what can make the readers understand what the author is trying to say. This leads to I cannot give a full answer to let the marker know what is my point. Last but not least, I should speed up the process of answering the questions. I need to think quite long during this although i am sure about it which is good in a way as i can make less mistakes, but it is also a bad habit because i only have a certain period of time in exams, i have to  do everything as quickly as possible.
I should work harder in my English and pay more attention to my weakness, only by these can i make improvement.
12/04/12
On my way home, i usually take out my phone and check my Sina Weibo to get the first-hand information of my dear friends in China.Today I saw one of my friends uploaded a sentence that caught my eye among all the status. He “said” that something happened to him today made him begin to think about his responsibilities to the society. I felt so surprised because he is such a naughty and careless boy in my impression. With lots of curiosity, i asked what was going on and then he did tell my something interesting and startling.
Today after school,he witnessed a theft incident on his way home. The thief was so rampant that it left him a very deep impression. It was in the rush hour, everyone was trying their best to crush into the train. Many people were buying tickets at the subway station including himself as he forgot to bring his own student card. A woman took her purse out and paid for the ticket. Then she put her purse back into her bag and turned to leave, when a mid-aged man brushed past her muttering “Excuse me”. She didn’t feel unusual and went into the station. Indeed, her purse had been stolen by that man. To their surprise, the thief seemed not to be nervous at all and even began to look others up and down. My friend guessed he was searching for the next target. At that time some persons, including himself, witnessed the process. But unfortunately, no one dared to warn that woman.
This incident makes him ashamed and leaves himself a deep thought, in fact as well as me. The pickpocket has posed a great threat to residents’ and visitors’ property safety. Undoubtedly, it is an urgent thing to take action to prevent pickpocket. However, it cannot depend on the police only. Instead, it needs our common efforts. We can not shut our eyes and mouths to the pickpocket any more. It should be kept in our minds that our forces are far beyond those thieves.

When i was having dinner with some girls in the canteen of our hostel, one of them said that the food was so terrible that made her lose her appetite eating them everyday. We were all agreed her without hesitation because the it dose do not taste good. But the other one told us a piece of news that she saw it in a Chinese’s Newspaper online, we all changed our mind immediately.
She told us that one of the food hygiene department in Sichuan Province,China, found out that some company made sausages by using leather from the wasted suits from some clothes-making factories. The news did give me a big shock.I was even not able to imagine that how horrible it would be to eat wasted leather.
Then we discussed this issue for a long time.In recent years, a lot of fake commodities have appeared in the market. These fake commodities have done great harm to the consumers and the society.Since the policy of reform was implemented, China’s economy has improved. A lot of people getting richer, and their living conditions are getting better. But still some of them are not satisfied. They dream of getting rich overnight and living a heavenly life, which, of course, is impossible to achieve by fair means. So they risk breaking the law to produce the market fake or harmful commodities.
Once these commodities enter the market, they will do immeasurable harm to the society. The direct victims are the consumers. As the quality of the fake commodities is always very poor, the consumers may suffer great losses. Certain fake commodities, such as food and medicine, will cause irreparable harm to the health and well-being of the consumers. Fake commodities also cut into the profits of the brand-name-owners. We should all stand in the same way to fight for our own benefits and to make those fake or harmful commodities less or even disappear.

Today is a big day!!!My band is going to perform in campus for the first time(in China)~I miss them so much and i really want to do this with them TAT..What a PITY!!!i know that they have prepared this for about a whole year, so I hope they have give a good show~(Sign..)I should be one of them and in fact i still feel sorry about this. They should be able to come up with this show in November last year but because i had to come here ,they had to stop all the things and restart the process. But i am very proud of my band because they are so amazing that are able to find another lead singer in such a short time.
Now let me introduce my band briefly. The name of our band is BD, which is a short form of our leader’s name.He is a singer, a guitar player and a jazz drum player. He is an amazing person who is crazy about pop music and his work once won the first award of a city music-writing competition. We are all admire him. There are 8 members in our band including the new singer. We usually practise in a music club once a week if there is no performances.I am the youngest of all of them, which is quite good because they are all very care about me and help me the most.I enjoyed my time spending with them, which was very fabulous.
Well, though today i am not the focus but i am here to be a little fan to support them with all my best wished and all my love^^

My roommate Qianhui and I carry out a new rule today, which is we must speak English from 1800 to 2300 on weekdays and from 0900 to 1400 on weekends and as much as possible at the other timing, why?Because we must make sure we speak English for at least 5 hours and we find that of we do not set a duration ,we will forget to continue it= =hahaha~And the most exciting part is that if one of us do not or forget to obey the rules (speak Chinese “accidentally”),she has to keep our room clean for that whole week.We are usually too lazy tiny our room so both us think that this is a very good solution!^^
But we do need to improve our oral English. Oral English is quite a serious problem among Chinese students. Most of the students have studied English for a long time, but they cannot communicate well with other people in English. In addition, there are still many other students who can understand every word of a article, but fail to read them out fluently and correctly. Many reasons contribute to this problem. Among these reasons, examination-oriented education system in China plays a vital role. What’s more, most of the students are too shy and nervous to speak in public which.
I think it is high time that we paid more attention to this “Mute English”. Moreover, we should talk as much as possible with the foreigners and not be afraid of losing face. In addition, we should enrich vocabulary and pay attention to the differences between spoken language and written language. Only through these ways can Chinese students avoid “Mute English” and speak a fluent English.Hope this rule is going to work well~
