Today we were given back our English paper. The only thing I wanted to do as soon as I  saw the mark was scream.Oh my gosh..In fact I was quite confident with it though i thought it was much harder than the last time , as i usually was able to do quite well like 75% percent when we did comprehension exercise but i did not know why i got this terrible result in this test.
I think i’d better do some self-reflection.I can understand the passage but why can’t i get the mark? I know what the question is asking for but why can’t i construct the answers well?   I am able to come up with the meaning but why can’t i express it by using right words? These are some of the questions I should think about. First of all, i usually pay less attention to spelling and i am to lazy to recite words. After finishing the vocabulary homework i seldom review the words which i have collected. This makes me lack of words when i construct my answers. Secondly, though i love to read English novels, which is good for me as it can increase my reading speed, i seldom notice how the author arrange the sentences and what can make the readers understand what the author is trying to say. This leads to I cannot give a full answer to let the marker know what is my point. Last but not least, I should speed up the process of answering the questions. I need to think quite long during this although i am sure about it which is good in a way as i can make less mistakes, but it is also a bad habit because i only have a certain period of time in exams, i have to  do everything as quickly as possible.
I should work harder in my English and pay more attention to my weakness, only by these can i make improvement.

On my way home, i usually take out my phone and check my Sina Weibo to get the first-hand information of my dear friends in China.Today I saw one of my friends uploaded a sentence that caught my eye among all the status. He “said” that something happened to him today made him begin to think about his responsibilities to the society. I felt so surprised because he is such a naughty and careless boy in my impression. With lots of curiosity, i asked what was going on and then he did tell my something interesting and startling.
Today after school,he witnessed a theft incident on his way home. The thief was so rampant that it left him a very deep impression. It was in the rush hour, everyone was trying their best to crush into the train. Many people were buying tickets at the subway station including himself as he forgot to bring his own student card. A woman took her purse out and paid for the ticket. Then she put her purse back into her bag and turned to leave, when a mid-aged man brushed past her muttering “Excuse me”. She didn’t feel unusual and went into the station. Indeed, her purse had been stolen by that man. To their surprise, the thief seemed not to be nervous at all and even began to look others up and down. My friend guessed he was searching for the next target. At that time some persons, including himself, witnessed the process. But unfortunately, no one dared to warn that woman.
This incident makes him ashamed and leaves himself a deep thought, in fact as well as me. The pickpocket has posed a great threat to residents’ and visitors’ property safety. Undoubtedly, it is an urgent thing to take action to prevent pickpocket. However, it cannot depend on the police only. Instead, it needs our common efforts. We can not shut our eyes and mouths to the pickpocket any more. It should be kept in our minds that our forces are far beyond those thieves.

When i was having dinner with some girls in the canteen of our hostel, one of them said that the food was so terrible that made her lose her appetite eating them everyday. We were all agreed her without hesitation because the it dose do not taste good. But the other one told us a piece of news that she saw it in a Chinese’s Newspaper online, we all changed our mind immediately.
She told us that one of the food hygiene department in Sichuan Province,China, found out that some company made sausages by using leather from the wasted suits from some clothes-making factories. The news did give me a big shock.I was even not able to imagine that how horrible it would be to eat wasted leather.
Then we discussed this issue for a long time.In recent years, a lot of fake commodities have appeared in the market. These fake commodities have done great harm to the consumers and the society.Since the policy of reform was implemented, China’s economy has improved. A lot of people getting richer, and their living conditions are getting better. But still some of them are not satisfied. They dream of getting rich overnight and living a heavenly life, which, of course, is impossible to achieve by fair means. So they risk breaking the law to produce the market fake or harmful commodities.
Once these commodities enter the market, they will do immeasurable harm to the society. The direct victims are the consumers. As the quality of the fake commodities is always very poor, the consumers may suffer great losses. Certain fake commodities, such as food and medicine, will cause irreparable harm to the health and well-being of the consumers. Fake commodities also cut into the profits of the brand-name-owners. We should all stand in the same way to fight for our own benefits and to make those fake or harmful commodities less or even disappear.

Today is a big day!!!My band is going to perform in campus for the first time(in China)~I miss them so much and i really want to do this with them TAT..What a PITY!!!i know that they have prepared this for about a whole year, so I hope they have give a good show~(Sign..)I should be one of them and in fact i still feel sorry about this. They should be able to come up with this show in November last year but because i had to come here ,they had to stop all the things and restart the process. But i am very proud of my band because they are so amazing that are able to find another lead singer in such a short time.
Now let me introduce my band briefly. The name of our band is BD, which is a short form of our leader’s name.He is a singer, a guitar player and a jazz drum player. He is an amazing person who is crazy about pop music and his work once won the first award of a city music-writing competition. We are all admire him. There are 8 members in our band including the new singer. We usually practise in a music club once a week if there is no performances.I am the youngest of all of them, which is quite good because they are all very care about me and help me the most.I enjoyed my time spending with them, which was very fabulous.
Well, though today i am not the focus but i am here to be a little fan to support them with all my best wished and all my love^^

My roommate Qianhui and I carry out a new rule today, which is we must speak English from 1800 to 2300 on weekdays and from 0900 to 1400 on weekends and as much as possible at the other timing, why?Because we must make sure we speak English for at least 5 hours and we find that of we do not set a duration ,we will forget to continue it= =hahaha~And the most exciting part is that if one of us do not or forget to obey the rules (speak Chinese “accidentally”),she has to keep our room clean for that whole week.We are usually too lazy tiny our room so both us think that this is a very good solution!^^
But we do need to improve our oral English. Oral English is quite a serious problem among Chinese students. Most of the students have studied English for a long time, but they cannot communicate well with other people in English. In addition, there are still many other students who can understand every word of a article, but fail to read them out fluently and correctly. Many reasons contribute to this problem. Among these reasons, examination-oriented education system in China plays a vital role. What’s more, most of the students are too shy and nervous to speak in public which.
I think it is high time that we paid more attention to this “Mute English”. Moreover, we should talk as much as possible with the foreigners and not be afraid of losing face. In addition, we should enrich vocabulary and pay attention to the differences between spoken language and written language. Only through these ways can Chinese students avoid “Mute English” and speak a fluent English.Hope this rule is going to work well~

  1. Dear Carol

I hope you were not too discouraged by your test marks. On the other hand, I'm very heartened to see your reflections and your decisions to improve your English. There is no doubt that we will all have to work very hard together and it is very important for you to keep writing and reflecting on your writing, as well as reviewing your vocabulary regularly.

    cheers
