Journal(holiday)

1/6/12
Today was the third day of my trip back home. I went back to my primary school to visit my teachers. It was Children’s Day so the school was extremely busy.
I first went to the principle’s office, a very nice young women was sitting behind her desk and reading newspaper. After hearing the noise of the door, she looked up and found that it was me. Excitement was on her face, she shouted out my name and came to hug me. I was too moved to even speak. Mrs Fang, she was my English and music teacher at primary school. When I was ten, I did not like to study and i was quite naughty. She was the one who taught me how to sing and make me crazy about music. I was really grateful to her. Then, i went to the auditorium with her and watched some performances which were done by children. They were so adorable!! And this did remind me a lot of things, once i was also one of the little dancers and nervous when i was about to get on the stage. That was the most wonderful time of my life, pure and everything was colourful.
I went to have dinner with my family and Mrs Fang, they talked about many things that happened during theses years. We had a great time at the restaurant.
Mrs Fang was a respectful teacher, and i was so surprised that she was so capable that she became a principal of the school. I admired her so much.I wish she and her family happiness and a great life ahead.
2/6/12
Today i went back to my hometown with my whole family including my parents and my grandparents to visit my relatives there. I did not go bake to there for at least three years. i was not quite familiar with it but my grandparents felt very excited about going back. They laughed during the journey and i was so glad that my decision was able to make them this happy.
I remembered that my hometown was a small beautiful village with mountains and rivers around. It was rich in fish and rice. Every year many people come to visit my hometown.
I heard from my grandparents that,in the past, there used to be nothing on these mountains but huge stones. And the rivers used to be very dirty. It was a poor and backward little town. Many people had no work and they lived a hard life. In 1949, my hometown was liberated. Since then great changes have taken place there .The streets have been widened.Factories, schools, hospitals, cinemas and theatres have sprung up one after another. The life of the people is greatly improved there years. However, surprisingly, it is covered by more and more trees. Mountains are greener than before. The water in the rivers is much cleaner than it used to be. And we can see the fish swim happily in the river.
I think my hometown will be much more beautiful. I am proud of her.
4/6/12
It was very nice to spent these two days in my hometown. I visited my relatives and they were all very happy to see us. We had great meals. The meats were fresh and tasty.
This afternoon, I went to fishing with my grandparents. My grandfather told me that he first met my grandmother was when he was fishing at the lake. They were busy farming at that time. The only thing they were able to relax was going fishing and this was their same hobby. I said this was so romantic and my grandmother smiled and said she thought so. I thought their love was so pure and touched. My grandparents spends more than 60 years with each other, but they still love each other as if they are just married. They love me so much and they always help me when i get my parents angry because i am the only child of the family. And i know that they are extremely worried about my life in Singapore and waited for my call every night. They are old and i should spend more time with them and try my best to make them happy so that they will not feel lonely.
So I spent the whole day with them fishing. I was not patient in the first place because I thought fishing was what only the elderly would do. My grandfather asked me to be more patient and focus what i was doing. I did so and I finally got a fish after 2 hours!! I felt a great sense of success! My parents got a lot of them and we ate fish as our dinner. My parents said that it was good for me to do such thing. It can help me to calm myself down and learn how to think more.
5/6/12
Today was a BIG BIG day!!! Oh my god,, i am still not able to calm down! Here is the BIG news: I met Wang Nan on the way back home! Wang Nan was a world champion in Ping Pong. She was a national hero! She has won scores of gold medals in international table-tennis games and won great honor for our motherland. I knew her because of my grandfather. He likes watching Ping Pong matches and he usually asks me to watch with him and i begin to enjoy the games after watching for quite a long time. The technics of the player made me admire them so much and Wang Nan was my favourite player. She is able to play table tennis as if she is just playing with a ball. It is a joy to watch her games.
Today when my family checked out from the hotel where we were living for the last few days. I suddenly saw a girl with short hair and carrying a red bag. She looked so familiar that i could not help myself shout out her name,”WANG NAN!” She turned around and saw me. Wang Nan replied,”Hello, little girl!”we were too shocked to speak a word. My grandfather was the first one to “get up” and he told her that he was her big fan. Wang Nan smiled politely and said,”Thank you so much.” Then I asked her,”May I get your signature?” She said,”of course” and signed her name on my notebook. After chit-chat with us for several minutes, she had to leave. She told us that she was going to London to watch matches there.
I kept talking about her with my grandfather in the car. She was such a nice person though she was so successful , I think she was admirable and respectful.
6/6/12
Today my uncle’s family came to my home to visit me. They brought me a lot of present such as my favourite Swedish chocolate which made me very surprised and touched. My aunt just gave birth to a little boy 3 months ago~His name was Yichen. He was so adorable and tiny. His skin was as soft as a smooth towel. When I called his name loudly, he would open his month as if he is trying to answer me but he was not able to make a sound. That made all of me laugh because he was really cute! I played with Yichen the whole day. He seemed like me so much and he liked hugging me though I did not think I actually did something that was funny to him.
My whole family were having fun with this little boy. A child is always a treasure to a family. I hope I can spend more time with them as i am here. I need them and I know they also need me at the same time. This is what called a “FAMILY”.
7/6/12
The News Report has always been my father’s favourite TV program. Almost everyday he turns on the TV 6:30p.m after work and wait foe the news program. This has become a part of my life. The News Report contains a large amount of information from the international political situation to the latest foot-ball game, which i used to consider boring. I did not like to watch that while having dinning and i always hoped my dad was not around and i could watch what ever i wanted. But now i seldom have that chance to watch TV with my dad. So today i decided to watch News Repots with him.
He was very surprised and talked to my about the latest news about the world. Though i was not interested at all, i listened very carefully. Dad seemed to be happy during the dinner.I just realized how much i missed the days when he was talking such boring things to me. Now they are all interesting.
Father is not the one who comforts you when you are sad, but he is the one who teaches you how to buck up. Father is not the one who cheers for your success, but he is the one who tells you how to face falieurs.I love Dad.
8/6/12
Today my dad had a deep conversation with me. Just two of us, father and daughter, talked about my wills and most importantly, my future. Actually he does not talk too much but he wanted to know what i had been gone through and what i was going to do next. In fact, he did not care that much about my study because he said that i was such an intelligent girl and he believed that i could achieve what i wanted as i did put my effort.
There was one sentence that he said had made me think. “We reading the first verse of the first chapter of a book whose pages are infinite”(i was not sure if this should be translated this way),,This was a reminder that the future can be anything we wanted to make it, just like a sculptor carves a statue from a shapeless stone.
We are all in the position of the farmer. If we plant a good seed, we reap a good harvest.if our seed is poor and full of weeds, we reap a useless crop. If we plant nothing at all, we harvest nothing at all.
I want my future to be better that the past. I do not want it contaminated by the mistakes and errors with which history is filled. We should be concerned about the future because that is where we will spend the reminder of our lives. The past is gone and static.Nothing we can do will change it. The future is before us and dynamic. Everything we do will affect it.
Each day will brings with it new frontiers, in our homes and in our businesses, if we will only recognize them, We are just at the beginning of progress in every field of human endeavor.
10/6/12
Today my mom’s purse was almost stolen by a migrant worker!!!that was quite scary!!!This afternoon when she and I were walking in a shopping mall. it was very crowded and suddenly my mom felt that someone was pulling her bag. She turned around and saw a tall man’s hand was in her bag seemed like searching something!!My mom was freaking out and screamed out loud for help. The man obviously did not think that my mom would scream and could not run away because there were a lot of people surrounding him. Eventually he was caught by the secures in the mall.
He was sent to a police station and turned out that he was a migrant worker. As is known to all, migrant workers have made a great contribution to the properity of cities. They are an indispensable part of or work force. Most of them work on construction sites. There is no doubt that without migrant workers many of construction projects would have to be held up for lack of manpower. In addition, a large number of migrant workers are a benefit factor, which means the consumption of food and dalily items .This in turn helps to develop food industry and service trades in cities. All these are positive aspects of migrant workers in cities.
However, as a popular saying goes, “Everything has two sides.”The same is the cae with migrant workers. Firstly, most of them are not well educated and professionally trained. Some of them have had very little schooling. As you know, illiterate people, who are usually ignorant of the law, tend to make trouble, just like this man, thus endangering social order. Secondly, most of the migrant workers swarm into big cities just to make money. Being illiterate or unsklled, some of them would stop at nothing to get what they are ambitious for. Therefore, they are a potential threat to the peace and stability of society.
In my opinion, in the appraisal of migrant workers, it is one-sided to affirm everthing or to nagate everything. We should appreciate the great contribution made by them, and at the same time pay enough attention to the problems caused by them.

12/6/12
I felt so good to follow the plan which I made it for myself yesterday and I did not have to waste my time to think what I should do at the study time. And I decided to keep this as a habit to plan my life. I used to finish things until the time when I must hand it in. When this happen, every time I have to rush and consequently the quality of the work would not be good. By the way, this was my mother’s advice. I told her my situation on weekend and she asked my to do this, at least have a try. Yep, I did tried and I thought I did quite well. Thank her so much.I should learn never put off until tomorrow what you can do Today. Which reminds me about a experience when I was ten and that taught me a lesson. one day I felt so tired after watching TV that I did not finish my homework even at night. I thought I could get up earlier to go to school the next morning so that I could finish my homework before class. Even if I could not make it, it was not that big a deal because I was the top student in our class and the teacher would not blame me. The truth told me that I was one hundred percent wrong to think myself that way. The next morning I was not able to get to school in time because of the traffic jam. I was punished by the teacher in front of the whole class and I really felt ashamed.
Although I have been told this since childhood, I seldom obey it as I was capable with my Chinese study. However, now, I am facing more difficult study therefore I should change my previous study style. Educators have known for a long time that people learn in different ways. That is why teachers present information in various forms. For example, as well as explaining a new language, language teachers often provide other learning experiences such as books, songs, debates and group work. In this way, all students in a class have an opportunity to learn in the way that best suits them. It is very important for us to find the most suitable learning styles for ourselves.
14/6/12
Today I received a piece of amazing news from my mom. She told me that me cousin, who has gone to university for a year, decided to aid students in the poverty-stricken areas, volunteer herself in poor villages for three months and try to improve education in poor areas with her schoolmates. I think this is just so cool!!!She was able to close to the poor children and taught them knowledge. I really want to tell her what i feel and how much i am admiring her. But her phone was not connected maybe I shall call her later.
Aid-education has been beneficial in two aspects. On the one hand, college volunteers are really devoted to the cause. They have opened the eyes of students in underdeveloped regions of the country by bringing them new knowledge and thoughts. As a result, they are extremely well-received by the children there. On the other hand, college students have received a rigorous training by adapting to the harsh living conditions. They are enjoying the appreciation and no-distance friendship from the children. What's more, they are greatly inspired by the moving and tireless spirit of the children.
In my opinion, China's educational development can't be isolated from each individual and the college students should take the lead in response to the appeal for offering aid to children in. I hope i could be one of them in the future.

I wonder if there is any girl or boy who does not like to see a rainbow in the sky. It is so beautiful!
There is a fairy tale saying whenever you see a rainbow you should run at once to the place where it touches the ground, and there you would find a pot of gold. Of course, it is not true. Neither could you find the pot of the gold, nor could you ever find the rainbow’s end. No matter how far you run, it always seems at a great distance.
I saw a rainbow today when i was on the way to my friend’s home, It was like a bright bridge which had attracted a lot of people to stand and watch.
A rainbow is not a thing which we can feel with our hands as we can feel a flower. It is not solid, for it is only the effect of light shining on raindrops. The light from the sun shines on the rain as it falls to the earth. The raindrops catch the sunlight and break it up into all the wonderful colors which we see. It is called a rainbow because it is made up of raindrops and looks like a bow.
That is also why we can see a rainbow in a clear sky. We see a rainbow only during showers or storms, only when there is still rain in the air and the sun still shines brightly through the clouds. Every rainbow has many colors which are arranged in the same order. The first or the top color is always red, next comes orange, then yellow and green, and last of all the blue and deep blue or violet. A rainbow is indeed one of the wonders of nature.(science people = =can only think of this lol...)
21/6/12
Today was the last day in China, I went to perform my last show with my band. I could see their sad faces and how much they did not want me to leave. And ,so did i. So we decided to perform this show just for us, not anything else.
As I reached there, the stage was quite and only the some staff walked around and preparing the show. But they were not happy for doing this job, I could tell from their faces. Then i turned around and said to my dear friends,”Let rock the stage!” They seemed to be lightened up by my words. We put our hands together and shouted out “JIA YOU JIA YOU JIA YOU!”
At 8,the show began, ours was the last. Surprisingly, I saw a lot of my classmates entering from the gate. One of them told me that they skipped their class just wanted to watch my performance. I knew it was a bad thing to do but i was just so moved. Finally, it was our turn!!!I jumped on the stage and began to sing. or i should say, shout. Afterwards they said i explored and i did agree. I was singing with my heart and my soul. Tonight, I was the winner of the stage and nobody was able to bit me. This was what i felt when i was singing. It was a great success. We then went to my instructor’s house to celebrate. I could not help myself crying at the end because it was too damn hard to keep my tears in my eyes. We all cried.
This was the night which i would remember in my life. I am proud of myself as i am able to have such a group of friends. We regard each other as our family, and in fact, we are.
25/6/12
Today was the first day of school. It was fantastic to see my friends here again!(though some of my homework was still not finished..oh..Ms Kaur please do forgive me- -..)My new life started again but this was going to be a lot different. I should make some changes in my life. And the first thing i should do was get out of that bad mood when i came back to Singapore. So i can be more brave to face the challenges here without my family and my friends in China.
I came to school quite early. The first person I met was Grace. She was really a nice girl. She sent me a long long massage to comfort me after knowing i was unhappy through Facebook. She waved her arms to say hi to me. I went to her and gave her a big hug.We both smiled. Grace asked me to be strong and i replied that i was fine and i would be strong enough to overcome everything. At this moment, Ziying came across and also hugged me. She was my best friend here, we did not need to say a word but we could understand each other. Then I went to the hall with my friends together. And as usual, a long speech began, but i did pay my full attention to Mr Chua. I thought what he said was what i needed to achieve and i should make an effort to do it well.
I came back to hostel happily and could not wait to share my day with my roommate. She said that it was good for me. In fact, she did not like their school as they did not allow the China scholars to go back to China during the June holiday!Anyway, we ended up encouraging ourselves and then went to sleep. Yeah, I have a lot of energy to face the new day now.
